GREGORY L. COTTON
GENERAL ADJUSTER
Mr. Cotton graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a Bachelors Degree in Business in 1985. Immediately after graduation, he became a project manager with Jefferson Properties and gained extensive knowledge in the field of commercial construction.
He began his insurance adjusting career with Crawford and Company from 1988 through 1997 as a staff property adjuster. Through experience and numerous Crawford training classes, he earned the General Adjuster title. He was also cross
trained in handling Liability claims. In 1997, Mr. Cotton was employed by McLarens Toplis where he furthered his experience in handling bigger and more complex commercial property claims as well as agricultural / commodity claims.
In 2000, Mr. Cotton worked directly with Winterthur International and XL Global as a General Adjuster and consultant. His main duties were to assist in resolving disputed claims and handling multi million dollar commercial property claims. Mr. Cotton worked closely with underwriters and third party administrators which allowed him to attain an understanding of policy verbiage and underwriting.
In 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, he accepted a position with the Interstate Restoration Group as a project Director. His duties consisted of evaluating and estimating commercial losses of all sizes and working directly with Insurance carriers and adjusters to reach cost agreements as well as coordinating the reconstruction with all sub contractors.
Mr. Cotton joined the Paul R. White & Company team in September of 2008. With a combined 20 years in the insurance and construction industries, he has great experience in the understanding of complex commercial and liability claims adjusting and various types of construction applications. Cases of note include:
- Fire loss in the Haggar Clothing plant in Ft. Worth, Texas
- Fire loss at Essex Crane / Manitowoc in Houston, Texas
- Hail loss to the Dickies Clothing plant in Ft. Worth, Texas
- Flood loss to the Welsh Farms Dairy plant in New Jersey
- Liability Claim for Fruit of the Loom Garment Company in Laredo, Texas
- Liability Commodity Claim for Millers in Jackson, Mississippi
- Collapse/Structure Failure loss on Poultry Houses for Tyson Foods in Arkansas
In addition to Texas, Mr. Cotton is licensed as an adjuster is Oklahoma and Arkansas. Mr. Cotton continues to increase his knowledge and claims handling skills and is active in various industry educational programs.
