ELIZABETH ORTIZ
ADJUSTER
Ms. Ortiz began her career with Paul R. White & Company, Inc. in 2002 as an assistant to the late Ms. Susan Staples in our San Antonio office. Shortly afterward, Ms. Staples invited her to study for her adjusting license, which she did, securing that license the following year, and receiving excellent training from Ms. Staples. Since receiving her license, Ms. Ortiz has been adjusting claims in San Antonio and Austin, as well as in the entire South and West Texas regions, including Corpus Christi, Eagle Pass, Laredo, South Padre Island and El Paso.
Prior to her employment at Paul R. White & Company, Ms. Ortiz resided in Mexico for several years, where she taught English on the college and adult level. This put the finishing touches on her study of the Spanish language, which she had already studied for many years. Her fluent knowledge of the Spanish language has been of great benefit to our clients in the settlement and investigation of claims in South and West Texas.
Ms. Ortiz has successfully concluded multi-million dollar condominium fire losses, tornado/wind losses to golf courses, large hail claims to outlet mall centers, and well as smaller water losses, fire losses, theft losses, foundation and mold claims. Most recently, she handled claims for the hail catastrophes of 2006 and 2009 in the Central Texas area, with claims involving multiple locations for multifamily properties, as well as high end risks. While specializing in commercial as well as residential property claims, Ms. Ortiz also has experience dealing with builder’s risk, business income, cargo, and mobile home losses, as well as general liability losses involving property damage. Cases of note include:
- Fire loss to Castlewood Condominium Association (over $4,000,000 in damages)
- Fire loss to Steeplechase Condominium Association (over $2,000,000 in damages)
- Hail loss to the Prime Outlet Mall (over $12,000,000 in damages)

Ms. Ortiz has continued to increase her knowledge of the adjusting profession with con-tinuing education and study of insurance coverages as well as the hands on experience that only comes from working in the field.
